My First Slip
Back in '09, I was rigging a new mainsail for my little 22-foot sloop. Thought I had the tension just right—tight enough to hold, loose enough to flex. But I miscalculated the load on the outhaul. Three hours later, I was stranded on a sandbar in the St. Johns, watching the tide go out while my competitors sailed past.
That's when I learned: a mistake without a recovery plan is just a liability waiting to compound.
